As chief strategist of consumer education for Charles Schwab & Co., Inc., Carrie Schwab Pomerantz speaks and writes extensively about personal finance issues for women and families, and is a driving force in the movement to increase financial literacy in America.
Schwab Pomerantz is also president of the Charles Schwab Foundation, where she oversees the company's philanthropic strategy and resources. The foundation is focused on helping at-risk teens and young adults achieve financial success, and supporting the philanthropy of Schwab employees. With Boys & Girls Clubs of America she created and now manages a national financial literacy program designed to reach millions of teens.
Schwab Pomerantz co-authored "It Pays to Talk: How to Have the Essential Conversations with Your Family about Money and Investing" with her father, Charles R. Schwab, in 2002. Publishers Weekly called the book "a well-rounded primer that provides one-stop shopping for the many phases of financial understanding and planning." In May 2005, Schwab Pomerantz launched a regular personal finance column called "Ask Carrie."
Schwab Pomerantz is a sought-after speaker whose public appearances have included the World Affairs Council of Philadelphia and the San Francisco Commonwealth Club, in addition to appearances on The Today Show, CNBC, and NPR. In 2001, Working Woman magazine recognized her as one of four Market Movers in America who are "rewriting the rules of finance," and she was also recognized as one of the 25 Power Elite in the financial services industry by Investment News.
Schwab Pomerantz holds a bachelor's degree in political science from the University of California, Berkeley, and a master's degree in business administration from George Washington University. She lives with her husband, author Gary M. Pomerantz, and their three children in the San Francisco Bay Area.
