Marvell Technology Insiders Sold US$6.3m Of Shares Suggesting Hesitancy

In this article:

In the last year, many Marvell Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:MRVL) insiders sold a substantial stake in the company which may have sparked shareholders' attention. When evaluating insider transactions, knowing whether insiders are buying versus if they selling is usually more beneficial, as the latter can be open to many interpretations. However, shareholders should take a deeper look if several insiders are selling stock over a specific time period.

Although we don't think shareholders should simply follow insider transactions, we would consider it foolish to ignore insider transactions altogether.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At Marvell Technology

In the last twelve months, the biggest single sale by an insider was when the Independent Director, Fouad Tamer, sold US$5.4m worth of shares at a price of US$59.58 per share. That means that an insider was selling shares at slightly below the current price (US$68.26). When an insider sells below the current price, it suggests that they considered that lower price to be fair. That makes us wonder what they think of the (higher) recent valuation. While insider selling is not a positive sign, we can't be sure if it does mean insiders think the shares are fully valued, so it's only a weak sign. We note that the biggest single sale was only 14% of Fouad Tamer's holding.
